Today, May 15th, 2026, marks 30 years since Sacramentum’s album Far Away From The Sun was released, and 31 years since it was recorded.
I still remember when we wrote and rehearsed the songs mainly during 1994, although Anders and Nisse already had a few songs written earlier, and later entered Unisound Studio in Örebro with Dan Swanö to record the album in 1995. Many great memories from that era.
What many people may not know is that some of the riffs I contributed actually originated from early Runemagick material. I had written quite a lot of music for Runemagick in the years before, but during that period the project was somewhat dormant, so we took a few riffs and reshaped them to fit songs such as “Blood Shall Be Spilled” and “Beyond All Horizons”.
Many seem to consider it Sacramentum’s finest album, and it certainly has its own charm, with rather unusual arrangements, atmospheric and somewhat unique sounds and riffs.
Just a short reflection on times long gone.
